The Caddy rides on a derivative of the Mk5 Golf platform, although it does not use that car’s complex multi-link independent rear suspension. Instead, there is a much simpler and stronger beam axle that is better suited to the harsh life that many vans will lead and therefore the norm for most light commercial vehicles.
While some rival vans are a little larger and more capable, this Caddy was the only truck in its class to offer two conventional and two sliding doors. It has two black plastic moldings on each side, with a fairly large rear windshield.
Additionally, the styling still looks fresh today, making it an attractive little truck, even with black bumpers and steel wheels. You can also decide to spruce things up with optional metallic paint, alloy wheels, and body-color bumpers.
Interior and comfort
