During 2005 significant changes were made to the headlights, grille and front bumper. Giving it a brand new signature look. And increasing the sales of this versatile car with its many options for power and fuel economy.
Below are the common faults of the Peugeot 307:
1- Electrical problems
Peugeot 307 problems range from a complete electrical shutdown. Even failures in engine management on the dashboard. It won’t start, it has no power and the roof function is faulty . Thoroughly check the windshield wipers, lights -including those on the center console and the parking brake lights-. Bad wiring connections can be the cause of many electrical problems.
Some 307 drivers have reported problems with the electrical system shutting down completely and then coming back on for no apparent reason.
2- Faults in the transmission shaft
Pay attention to the noises or clicks that come from the lower part of the car, when turning slowly with the total lock. This is a sure sign that there might be a problem with the driveshaft. Since this is a very expensive problem to fix, be sure to check for both left and right turns.
3- Suspension shock problems
A knocking noise coming from the suspension points to a problem with the suspension brushes. Or the stabilizer bar. Either will need replacement parts. If noises are heard when turning slowly, it could be a problem with the drive shaft as we mentioned before.
4- Failures in the direction
When you hit the road, be sure to pay attention to any kind of clicking noise that seems to be coming from the steering column. This is a sure sign that the gauges are about to fail, which will require a complete steering column replacement.
5- Brake pedals and problems
One of the common failures of the Peugeot 307 is that the brake pedals break. Check the pedals thoroughly to make sure they are complete . And that they have not been badly replaced since this could be the cause of a possible accident.
The brake issues include faulty ABS warning lights which are now an ITV test failure. Open circuits and faulty wiring may be the cause. The most complicated ABS issues are related to the sensor bolts attached to the hub.
As the bushing area corrodes, the sensors move away from the magnetic ring and fail to make proper contact and reading. The whole area will have to be cleaned. And the code reader will have to be reset.
6- Body panels in poor condition
When the body panels of any car are misaligned, fuel efficiency is reduced and can slow the car down. Look for uneven joints between the panels, and any unusual curves or twists. This is a known issue on the Peugeot 307.
7- Problems in power windows
A failure in the power drive systems causes the windows to not open or close properly, or not to open at all. A replacement motor may be necessary if the cause is identified.
8- Faults inside
Another of the common problems or failures of the Peugeot 307 is noted in the separation of the interior carpets from the thresholds due to the lack of connection clips. This can easily be resolved by fitting new clips to hold the mat securely.
Seat belt anchor points can be a problem, so make sure they are secure. Corroded fixings must also be welded.
9- Warnings about the diesel filter
There may be problems with the accumulation of unwanted particles in the diesel particulate filter . This will be indicated by a message on the dashboard reading ” Diesel filter blocked “. This can become a common problem if you only use your car for short journeys. To prevent this from happening again, it is necessary to drive for at least 15 minutes on the open road at constant speeds.
